Teeth in a Day
Tooth loss has a significant impact on your life, affecting your ability to eat your favorite foods and speak properly. Dental implants, a permanent alternative to dentures, have become increasingly popular, as they offer many advantages over traditional dentures. But they usually require several visits. Here at Canyon Oral & Facial Surgery, our surgeons offer a faster way to get dental implants: teeth in a day.
Replacing All Your Teeth: Know Your Options
The Drawbacks of DenturesTraditionally, the way to deal with tooth loss and give you your life back has been with dentures - but dentures can be a lot of work. You have to take them out every night to care for them and soak them; then place them every morning. They rest on your gums and can rub, causing denture sores. Dentures may become loose and shift in your mouth, or even fall out while you are eating or speaking.
What Are Dental Implants?Dental implants are titanium rods that are surgically placed into your jaw. The rods are meant to act as roots of your teeth would, to support your prosthetic teeth. After your implants are placed, a mold is taken of your mouth and sent off to a lab to create your custom false teeth. While you heal, you are given temporary false teeth, which allow you functionality in your daily activities. Depending upon the number of implants placed, it can take anywhere from 6 to 12 weeks to heal, during which time you will come back to the office in order for one of our dentists to check on the progress of osseointegration. When your permanent prosthesis is ready, it will be placed and supported by abutments on the titanium rods.
Teeth in a DayTeeth in a day are a version of dental implants. Rather than taking several appointments, however, this revolutionary new concept allows you to leave with permanent, fully functioning false teeth. We take a CAT scan of your jaw and turn it into a three-dimensional image. This image is used to plan your procedure before you come in for surgery. Surgery is computer guided. You will leave with your permanent teeth and will more than likely be able to resume most of your normal activities the next day.
