Canyon Oral & Facial Surgery is proud to announce the two recipients of its second Smile Again program, Emily and Tonja. The program is designed to help people in the Las Vegas community smile again with a brand-new set of healthy teeth with the help of dental implants and/or an All-on-4® procedure.
Emily, 49, is a mother of seven who for most of her life avoided the dentist out of crippling fear. In 2016, she tragically lost her youngest son Chandler in a car accident. After his passing, it inspired her to support her community and do something positive, so she opened a coffee shop to serve disadvantaged kids with a safe place in hopes to help them succeed. She plans to have free WiFi for kids to do their homework and mentors to teach them basic skills they might not be learning at home, like how to balance a checkbook or grocery shop for healthy food on a budget. She’s proud to continue to honor her son and looking forward to rebuilding her confidence with a new, beautiful smile.
Tonja, 54, adopted five children and lost many of her teeth while sick with cancer. After suffering a stroke, doctors told her she would never walk again, but that didn’t stop Tonja and after two years of therapy she proved them wrong! Her spirit drives her to fight for the future, and although she hasn’t let oral health issues stop her, it has taken her confidence. Tonja still has three young children to care for and would like to smile, take them to events, and enjoy the foods she has missed.
The All-on-4 treatment concept is an excellent choice for many patients because it is a permanent way to restore an entire upper or lower arch of teeth while improving oral health and function. The treatment uses as few as four dental implant posts to secure the teeth permanently to the jaw.
